As cancer is not only a health problem but also a societal problem, the League has been communicating actively for several years on the need to change our perception of the disease.
In order to build awareness among as many people as possible, Vivre, the magazine dedicated to fighting cancer, is now sold in kiosks throughout France.The League has also launched ambitious experimental projects:
Creation of ERI's (information and meeting areas)
Through its Training School, the League facilitates active commitment through knowledge certifications
Its Internet forum enables patients and their loved ones to discuss anything remotely concerning the disease
The League plays a pivotal role in the fight against cancer, coordinating and hosting an anti-cancer organisation unit which includes:
Alliance contre le tabac (anti-smoking alliance), Europa Donna, Jeunes Solidarité Cancer (young people's cancer solidarity group), MG cancer, Société française du cancer (French cancer society), Société française du cancer de l’enfant et de l’adolescent (French child and teenage cancer society), Société française de psycho-oncologie (French psycho-oncology society) and Vivre comme avant (Live like before).
True to its promises made at the 3rd Convention (2004), the League set up the AIDEA service in September 2006 to help cancer patients obtain loans and insurance. This is a Free, Anonymous and Confidential service available Monday to Friday from 8am to 8pm on 0 810 111 101 (cost of a local call).
